🛒INGREDIENTS:
500 grams of flour
1 teaspoon of sugar
0.5 teaspoons of salt
1 egg
4-5 tablespoons of melted butter (a total of 150 grams)
250 ml of warm water
Filling:
7 large apples
180 grams + 30 grams of sugar
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
Zest from one lemon or orange
0.5 teaspoons of cinnamon
2 teaspoons of cornstarch
50 grams of butter
100 grams of nuts (optional)
3 tablespoons of ground almonds
For brushing the pastry sheets:
Remaining melted butter + 2 tablespoons of oil

📜PREPARATION:
Prepare the filling: Peel and slice the apples, then in a bowl add 180 grams of sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, lemon or orange zest, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and mix well.
In a pan, melt 50 grams of butter, add the apples, and sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon evenly over the apples.
Turn up the heat and remove some juice from the apples. Add 2 teaspoons of cornstarch to the juice, mix it, and pour it back into the pan with the apples. Add 100 grams of peeled almonds (or other nuts) and stir gently to avoid breaking the slices. Stir for 2 minutes until the syrup thickens and reduces. Put the filling on a plate to cool down.
Make the dough: In a bowl, mix 250 ml of warm water, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 0.5 teaspoons of salt, 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of oil, 4 tablespoons of melted butter (out of 150 grams), and 500 grams of flour. Mix the dough. If it's too soft, add a little more flour.
Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and let it rest for 30 minutes (to make it easier to roll out).
Start rolling out the dough balls. Sprinkle them with flour, then stack them in fours. Prepare your work surface: melted butter + 2 tablespoons of oil, breadcrumbs, and 30 grams of sugar.
Now, stretch each sheet of dough, starting with the first one. Stretch the edges as well. Then, sprinkle the sheet with oil and butter.
Stretch the second sheet, overlap it on top of the first one, and sprinkle it with oil and butter.
Repeat with the third sheet, placing it on top of the second and sprinkle with oil and butter.
Stretch the fourth sheet and overlap it lengthwise on top of the others.
Sprinkle with oil and butter, and sprinkle with breadcrumbs and a little sugar.
Now, arrange the apple slices diagonally.
Brush with the remaining oil and butter and make cuts.
Bake at 200°C/392°F for 25-35 minutes or until it's beautifully golden brown.
Remove from the oven, let it rest for 10 minutes, and then cut it.
