When Love Bled It Made Us Right With God
1. As a Born Again Believer, You Are Now the Righteousness of God
2 Cor 5:20-21 we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled (restored) to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Rom 5:10 when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son
Reconciled – re-established, restore relationships, make things right
Jesus was made to be sin with man’s sinfulness, in order for man to be made righteous with His righteousness.
He became what we were so we could become what He is now
The born again believer has been made the righteousness of God; He demands that we accept this in our hearts and minds
2. Righteousness Gives Us Power in Prayer to Prevail Against Our Enemies
Col 1:22 He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation
We are no longer unworthy; we have the ability to stand in the very presence of God with no shame, guilt or insecurity
Js 5:17 The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Ps 34:17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.
Is 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness (right standing) is from Me,” Says the Lord.
3. Because I Am Right With God, I Have Confidence in God’s Promises for Me
Rom 4:3 “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” (Righteousness is our foundation for faith)
We have to see ourselves, by faith, the way God sees us - Many don’t doubt God’s power or promises; the doubt comes in God’s power and promises for them.
Honor – To value, appreciate, and to respect; to dishonor is to treat as common and ordinary
We must honor the blood and the work of the cross by calling ourselves what God said we already are, by faith
Develop an “I am what God said I am” mentality and confession
Rom 4:17 (It is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did
4. The Same Way We Went After Sin, Let Us Go After Our Righteousness
1 Cor 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin
Rom 6:19 (NIV) Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness.
Jn 8:11 (NIV) "No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."
1 Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Faith comes by hearing the word of God.
