Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya
Om Namo Narayanaya, Om Nama Shivayah
The meaning of Bhagavate is given in part 2 of this series ([ Ссылка ])
Vasudeva is name for Krishna. Calling on Vasudeva, we should remember the whole personalities of Krishna. He is joyful, singing, dancing and playing flute but at the same time upholding dharma.
Even if upholding dharma means going to the battlefield and fighting enemies.
Calling on Vasudeva also means that we act as Vasudeva, as the Caretaker. We practice meditation by taking care and serving society. It could be visiting old-people homes, schools, and hospitals and so on. As guidance, we should serve society for at least 4-hours in a week. Remember this “The hands that help are better than the lips that pray”.
Narayana is one name of God. It means the one within all living beings.
Shiva is also name of God. It represents auspiciousness.
By serving society, we are serving Narayana, the one within all living beings, and at the same time making our life auspicious (Shiva).
Understanding the inner meaning of the song creates bhava (innermost feeling, the devotion).
Kirtan should be performed in such a way that bhava, rhythm (Tala), melody (Raga), the instruments, and the singers are in unison. This kind of Kirtan will affect our life. People who practice Kirtan this way proven to be very good in teamwork.
At the end, Kirtan should spiritualize our whole life.
