Ukraine's president has accused Russia of "nuclear terrorism" after shelling by Vladimir Putin's forces caused a fire at a nuclear power plant.
One of six nuclear reactors at Zaporizhzhia – the largest nuclear plant in Europe – caught fire on Thursday night after the site was attacked by Russia.
An anonymous Ukrainian official caused panic in the early hours of Friday morning after telling the Associated Press that there were "elevated" levels of radiation at the site as a result of the fire.
This claim was quickly denied by the Ukrainian State Emergency Service and authorities at the plant said the facility had now been secured. The director of the plant, Oleksandr Starukh, said "nuclear safety is now guaranteed".
The terrifying nature of the attack on Zaporizhzhia has caused widespread concern about the safety of Ukraine's nuclear infrastructure and the tactics of Russian forces.
