Ninja and Yo-Landi from Die Antwoord adpoted Tokkie (Gabriel Du Preez) from the poor neighborhood of Fietas in Johannesburg, South Africa when he was 12 years old. They did this to use him as a fashion accessory and exposed him to a life of violence in order to groom him to feature in their music and music videos. Tokkie ended up stabbing his own brother a few years later and after that, Die Antwoord used that incident as a narrative in one of their music videos "Please Don't Take me For a Poes". Is it really a surprise that Tokkie stabbed his own brother? Yo-Landi stabbed Ninja at some point. Ninja slapped Yo-Landi around. Maybe this is how they they taught their adopted son to deal with his emotions - violence. Tokkie stabbing his brother wasn't public knowledge but once it got exposed, Ninja from Die Antwoord tried to pre-empt it and soften the blow by flying down to Johannesburg along with Yo-landi to their Parkhurst home and giving Tokkie R5000 ($325) to basically get the fuck out of their lives forever after they've used and discarded him. Truth is, they had to fly down to Johannesburg anyway because they had to finalize selling their Parkhurst home because they needed money after unsuccessfully trying to sue their record label. This entire video is a premeditated cringe fest. Watch as they use kids from the hood as set dressing and give some of them sneakers as well.
