‘Doomsday’ for Kakamega livestock thieves
Three livestock thieves voluntarily returned to the scene of crime where they had previously stolen a goat and a calf in Emusanda village, Botsoto, Kakamega County.
The suspects are said to have to the homestead of 42-year-old Tolibert Imbiakah, on May 27 where they had stolen a goat and a calf two days earlier after a witchdoctor reportedly used magical powers to out them.
The three culprits are said to have been attacked by a swarm of bees allegedly on the command of the witchdoctor, before they reportedly started mooing and bleating during the entire ordeal.
The three culprits; Hillary Momanyi (22), John Bukhazio (28), and Winston Mutiele (20), are said to have been intercepted by a swarm of bees that attacked them and stuck on their arms as they were fleeing with the stolen livestock.
The mooing and bleating suspects attracted the attention of villagers in Murram area in Kakamega town who arrested them and handed them to the police.
Police reports say that the owner of the stolen livestock, 42-year-old Tolibert Imbiakah, sought out the services of the witchdoctor after waking up on Saturday morning only to find that his animals had been stolen.
“The witch doctor visited the man’s compound and conducted some rituals at the enclosure while mumbling some incantations, then left telling the owner not to worry as the thugs would come looking for him after two days,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said in a statement.
True to his words, today at 10am, their hands mobbed by a swarms of bees they strolled back to Imbiakah’s homestead as they carried the animals aloft bleating and mooing rhythmically.
The three suspects were handed over to police after Imbiakah positively identified his stolen farm animals. Mr Imbiakha had reported the theft of his animals that took place on May 25 at Shibuli Police Post.
Police said on July 27, at around 10.00am ,three youths emerged in possession of the cow, while one of them was carrying a goat on his shoulders while bleating at Murram area about 5kms South West of Kakamega Police station.
After the stolen animals were identified by the owner, the medicine man administered some herbs on the suspects resulting in the bees disappearing instantly. The suspects were later arrested and they are in custody awaiting arraignment in court.
