Hundreds of people rallied in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday to demand the Brazil government legalise the production and sale of marijuana.
There was a party-like atmosphere at the march on the edge of Ipanema beach, with participants smoking joints and wearing cannabis-themed outfits.
Mother and lawyer Margarete Brito joined the march with several other parents to show her support for importing marijuana for medicinal purposes.
Brito's daughter suffers from a type of epilepsy that could be alleviated with the use of medicinal marijuana.
Brito said that cannabidiol (CBD), an active ingredient found in marijuana, can provide relief from seizures.
"We are here to try to show our fight and try to make our life easier, because it's a matter of health and the health of the child. It's a matter of public health," she said.
The Cannabis March takes place annually along Ipanema beach.
