A nod to all the elders, ancestors and predecessors who lived and died for justice, equality, harmony, and peace for all beings. To all those who fought against white supremacy, war, and economic exploitation.
We too have come of age in a state of perpetual war, with the never ending war on terror abroad and the unending violence against black and brown and poor people at home, the new Jim Crow prison industrial complex, the evaporation of the middle class, and the erosion of civil liberties in the post-9/11 atmosphere of perpetual manufactured fear, we see that the problems that were faced in the 20th century are not altogether different than the problems we must face as a generation today.
Many strides were made by the elders of the previous generations. But we must not drop the baton. We honor their legacy by living with radical love for all beings and fighting against those systems of oppression which harm the people and benefit only the corrupt. As global citizens we reject a nationalism or racism which prizes some lives over others. We stand against modern mechanized war which pits the poor citizens of one nation against the poor citizens of another nation for the economic benefit of each country's ruling class. As Adamic humans who affirm tawhid, the oneness of God and the interconnectedness of all beings, we affirm the humanity and equality of all beings regardless of color or creed. And we strive to uproot the systems of greed and oppression which strip many of our brothers and sisters from access to resources, justice, and peace.
"You can't separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom."
