Not nervous now!
In this video, I discuss four common reasons why I felt nervous about becoming an electrical apprentice, and provide ways on how I overcame these challenges.
1. Getting along with others.
As an electrical apprentice, you'll be working as part of a team, so it's essential to be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with your colleagues. Even if they're....... Undesirable let's say.
2. Electrical hazards.
Electrical work can be dangerous if proper precautions are not taken, so it's important to be aware of the risks and know how to stay safe. HOWEVER, during your apprenticeship, it's unlikely someone's gonna make you do something unsafe, and you NEVER should do anything in an unsafe way..
3. The amount of Learning.
There's no denying that this field involves a lot of technical knowledge, but nobody expects you to know everything when you first start. I found it important to ask questions and seek clarification when you're unsure about something.
4. Physical demands of the job.
Electrical work IS hard on your body, but there are steps you can take to minimize the strain. I work out on the side, and the jobs don't drain me like they used to. Plus, with proper form, this may be the job that whips you into the best shape of your life.
