The Yearling Trail and Pat's Island is the location that inspired Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings to write her 1938 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Yearling. The Hollywood adaptation starring Gregory Peck was filmed on location here in this area of the Ocala National Forest.
