Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg apologized Wednesday for a controversial “stop-and-frisk” policing tactic used when he was mayor of New York City.
The measure was found to disproportionately affect minorities.
"We didn't understand just how impactful it was on young men of color who got stopped," Bloomberg said in an interview with
Nashville TV station WKRN during a two-day campaign swing through the South.
His apology followed the discovery of newly-resurfaced comments in which he defended the policy.
