The people of Myanmar have been fighting for freedom, justice and peace since a military coup took place on February 1, 2021 while some ethnicities have been fighting for this since the independence of Burma.
What started out as peaceful protests has now escalated into chaos as the Burmese army (tatmadaw) has started to commit atrocities against unarmed, peaceful protestors. This includes kidnapping, theft, assault and murder. The elected government known as the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) has designated the tatmadaw as a terrorist organization while international bodies such as ASEAN and the UN have failed to take substantial steps to help de-escalate the violence against unarmed civilians.
As of the time of publishing this video, over 100 civilian lives have been claimed at the hands of the terrorists while thousands, including students, journalists and activists remain imprisoned while being denied legal rights. The terrorists have also arbitrarily cut access to mobile data networks to keep civilians in the dark and to minimize reporting of the committed atrocities to the international community.
This video serves as a tribute to the people of Myanmar and to the lives that have been lost. May this inspire the people to keep fighting for what is rightfully theirs, with or without the support of the international community, whatever it takes to win.
Whatever It Takes by Imagine Dragons is a song that represents the determination to succeed in any situation, while pushing out of the comfort zone in the process.
