I thought I should address sudden declining reasons of specimen Hoyas and their rescue methods using a live example which I didn’t feature in the filming of my Hoya collection
Here's a brief summary
- Over / under watering / fertilization
- Too many changes in environment giving the plant minimal / unstable growing conditions (very low / high light, humidity, air movement)
- degrading old media which retains too much water/ no water at all
- Bad quality media or not being repotted for years
- Not understanding a growing method properly (semi hydro with leka / pon / wet and dry cycles of organic media
- Inconsistent care where the care of the hoya spirals
- not flushing the pot regularly
- stalled growth of the plant,
- deformed new leafs,
- and leafs not looking of a healthy green shade.
- Yellowing leafs
- Dropping buds on peduncles
- Drying out new growth / leaves
