Welcome to the oldest commercial building in Houston with an operational business. Originally opening its doors as The Kennedy Bakery in the mid 1800s by Scottish immigrant, John Kennedy, La Carafe is a mellow wine bar located in the heart of Houston, TX at 813 Congress Street.
Many overlook this quaint and historical building, but those who choose La Carafe for a night on the town are greeted with old world charm and a seemingly untouched atmosphere dating back to the late 1950s when La Carafe opened.
Reports of paranormal activity at La Carafe are well known. Due to its original state, change of business hands, and rich history, many have encountered a spirit or two...and I don't mean the libation kind.
