Christina Aguilera graced the stage at the 2012 AMAs performing a medley of new songs off her latest album "Lotus" for the first time! You're watching your music news source- ClevverMusic. Global superstar and 'The Voice' coach Christina Aguilera performed tonight at the 2012 American Music Awards at the Nokia Theater in LA and we were there to witness the incredible 40th Anniversary show. As you know, Christina dropped her latest album "Lotus" on November 9th so it was only appropriate that she perform at this year's AMAs.
Gloria Estefan introduced XTina, who performed three songs, first with "Lotus" and wearing a pink sheer dress and emerging from a lotus flower made of human female backup dancers.
After a costume change she is "set free" and transitions into one of our favorite new tracks, "Army of Me" re-emerging in a glittery black leotard from a fake pink trailer home. This portion of her performance featured an anti-bullying theme with dancers dressed as misfits including drag queens, bikers, and more, who wear bags on their heads with signs saying, "doubt", "fear", "hate" and more. The dancers throw the bags off their heads in revolt and celebrate their freedom with her final song in the performance.
Christina exclaimed, "This is a celebration of all of us! A revolution!" then belted out upbeat song, "Let There Be Love" and we appreciated the message XTina was sending via her performance.
Christina wasn't nominated for any awards at the show, but we think she won with one of the best performances of the night. We'll wait for the Grammys' in February!
