There was, yet more violence ...

A roadside bomb exploded early on Wednesday next to a police patrol in central Baghdad,
At least two people were killed ... Seven others were hurt.

There were also reports Wednesday that coalition forces -- backed by U.S. Aircraft, killed eight insurgents -- near the northern city of Baqouba.
The fighting also left two Iraqi women dead.
In the aftermath of the raid, some men sifted through the rubble of a house.

Some of the bodies were already in coffins hours later.
The U.S. Military also said Wednesday that a roadside bomb had killed one U.S. Army soldier and wounded another in northern Iraq,

Meantime, the New York Times is reporting that President Bush's national security advisor, Stephen Hadley has expressed serious doubts about whether Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has the capacity to control the sectarian violence in Iraq.

Hadley's memo reportedly recommends that the U.S. take measures to strengthen the Iraqi leaders position.
