Dayseeker is just one of those bands that does everything right. This is by far my favorite song off of Origin and so I needed to cover it. Sorry for the various slip-ups, overall pretty tight though, I'd say! Incredibly fun song, I had SO MUCH fun making the video, and I hope you all enjoy it and check out Dayseeker! Their new album Origin is one of the best albums I've ever heard. Enjoy!!!!!!!
I picked up two Monoprice condenser microphones prior to recording this video and I'm using both of them as overheads. I swear, I could mic the entire kit with just these two mics! Monoprice is amazing! So stoked on that!
A fairly new addition to my recording kit: Audix i5. This thing is a beast for snare. Check it! Totally un-EQd.
I also recently purchased a Shure SM7B for overall use in my future home studio, and right now it's serving as a floor tom mic and holding its own VERY well. My drums are not tuned that great and have super old, beat-up heads, yet it makes my floor tom sing! Really stoked about that. Un-EQd!!!!!!!! I changed the frequency response and it really gets all of the body of that drum, super sick.
No video or audio cuts or changes.
Recorded/edited in Garageband with Samson microphones, two Monoprice condensers, an Audix i5, and a Shure SM7B through a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 Firewire interface, plugged into a late 2007 standard Macbook. No triggers or samples. A little bit of reverb but otherwise no sound changes.
I play a Tama Starclassic Maple kit (10", 12", 14" 16" toms, 14x5.5" G-Maple Snare, 20" kick)
Cymbals:
Sabian 15", 16" 18" AAX X-Plosion crashes, 14" AAX Stage Hats, 20" AAX Stage Ride, 10" HHX Splash, 12" AAX Splash

Tama Speed Cobra double bass pedal
Evans EC2 tom batter heads, Heavyweight snare batter head, EMAD Heavyweight bass drum batter head.
AHEAD sticks (Some Vic Firths in this video, I shredded both of my AHEADs prior to recording this)
