Every week, the ICRC helps hundreds of refugees living in Jordan's Zaatari camp to make phone calls to family members in Syria or that have fled to other countries. Many of those left behind in Syria are elderly or ill and too frail to make the perilous journey across the desert to Jordan. In this film featuring images taken in Zaatari and in Syria, ICRC tracing officer Basel Jarar explains how this small service is a lifeline for those in the camp - and back home.
