The Upgraded Early Warning Radar provides early detection and precise tracking of ballistic missiles and air-breathing threats, as well as quick, accurate classification of threat versus non-threat objects. UEWR is a key sensor for the Missile Defense Agency’s Ballistic Missile Defense System, supporting the intercept of ballistic missiles above the atmosphere, while concurrently performing the early warning mission.
