Stop getting lied to on rental applications

One of the biggest problems you will deal with in tenant selection is people having fake landlord references.

They give the phone number of their best friend, and that person poses as the landlord.

One way to make lying on the application more difficult is to ask to see the current lease.

that will show the landlord name, address, current rent.

You’ll be able to check if the landlord matches up with who owns the property according to public records. If it’s a property management company, make sure you can verify their existence online and call the work number to talk with the property manager, no cell phones.

Also, having property managers email you from a work address is another great way to verify authenticity.
