Tempo is an often overlooked variable when working out, but it can provide a lot of benefit by optimizing it. Today’s video, Danny is going to deep-dive into everything tempo.
Slower tempo allows you to focus on form and let you focus on the eccentric part of the lift. This can be good when you are learning as well.
A fast tempo is better for creating power and velocity. You will get more recruitment when you try and lift a weight with more explosive power. You will have a greater risk of injury if you are a new lifter.
If you are someone that focuses mostly on fast tempo and going fast, you might benefit a lot from switching to a slower tempo. The opposite is true for the person who moves with a slow tempo, with a fast tempo providing benefit to them.
