Ensuring high COVID-19 vaccination uptake, especially among those at highest risk of severe outcomes, is one of the most critical challenges facing COVID-19 vaccination campaigns. In a forthcoming study using the CLSA COVID-19 questionnaire data, a research team led by Dr. Nicole Basta, infectious disease epidemiologist and associate professor at McGill University, identified factors associated with willingness to receive a COVID-19 vaccine among older adults to understand who is least likely to be vaccinated and why. Participants were drawn from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging, a large, nationally representative cohort. The research team analyzed survey data collected from 23,822 older adults in Canada aged 50 years and older from all 10 provinces between September to December 2020.
This webinar explores the factors associated with willingness to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, reasons for willingness and reasons for a lack of willingness and discuss implications for vaccine uptake among older adults in Canada.
