This was definitely not a great performance in this Master test. We are fortunate to have passed.
Buck did fine in the first series.
In the second series he never saw the bird thrown on the walk up. They threw it early and we were blocked by the bush when it was in the air. He did look over when he heard the gun shot, but they didn’t shoot the gun until the bird was hitting the water. I ended up having to handle him to the bird. On the memory bird, he veered left of the pile of dirt, but then cut back to the bird. Not the best line to the bird, but glad he got it.
In the third series, I lined him up for the middle bird after he got the go-bird. He ran within a few feet of it and kept running. He then turned and went to the long bird and picked it up. I then resent for the short middle bird and he missed it again just upwind of it. I handled him back to it.
This is Buck’s 5th Master pass out of 6 Masters we have run. Definitely not his best performance though. Our focus on field trials may have had something to do with it. We need one more pass for his MH title.
