GOTCHA. Karen Nelson, formerly known as Karen Strode, probably, the is daughter of Laurie Strode in the 40-Year Timeline. She is Laurie's only child in this branch timeline, but she does share traits with other versions of Laurie's offspring, particularly Jamie Lloyd, from the original timeline.
In an early version of the Halloween (2018) script, she was even named Jamie, however, the writers seem to have renamed her to prevent any confusion and make it clear that previous sequels are not part of this canon.
But Karen's life is an interesting one to analyze nonetheless. Her childhood was marred by Laurie's a paranoia about Michael Myers and this damage leaks into nearly all the decisions she makes in her adult life, right up to the tragic end. This is an example of intergenerational trauma, which I'll get into in this lesson.
In this video we'll be going over every detail of Karen's life, from her tumultuous past detailed in Halloween (2018) to the grisly fate carved out in Halloween Kills (2021).
