Jamaican spice bun and cheese is a tradition around Easter time. This recipe will not disappoint, enjoy!!
Spice Bun Dry ingredients:
- 6 cups All-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp Baking powder
- 2 tbsp Mixed spice
- 2 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
- 2 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Salt
Wet Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 bottle Dragon Stout
- 2 cups Brown sugar
- 3 1/2 tbsp Browning
- 1/2 cup Honey
- 1 1/2 tsp Almond extract
- 1 tsp Rose water
- 1 tbsp Vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (8 tbsp) Butter
- 1/4 cup Guava jam/jelly
- 1 tsp Lime juice
- 2 Eggs beaten
- 1 1/2 cup Raisins
- 1/2 cup Mixed peel
- 12 Maraschino cherries cut in halves
Glaze
Guava jam, brown sugar, melted butter, browning
OR
Honey and melted butter.
***Butter baking tins***
***Fill baking tins with batter NO MORE THAN 1/2 WAY***
Bake at 350 F, middle rack for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.
This Recipe makes 2— 9 inch buns.
