Euan Ashley, “Do Super Athletes Hold the Secret to Health?”
Watch, learn and connect: [ Ссылка ]
Who are the fittest humans in the world? Professor Ashley seeks to find elite athletes to better understand their inherited traits of endurance by genetic sequencing. He describes some of these individuals, uncovers others around the world with similar qualities and explores the potential for human health.
Euan Ashley is an associate professor of medicine, of genetics and, by courtesy, of pathology at Stanford University Medical Center. He serves as co-director of the Stanford Clinical Genomics Service and directs the Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease. Professor Ashley led the team that carried out the first clinical interpretation of a human genome in 2010, and in 2013 the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy recognized his contributions to personalized medicine. He received the National Innovation Award from the American Heart Association and a New Innovator Award from the National Institute of Health.
This Stanford+Connects micro lecture was filmed on location in Boston, Massachussetts. Stanford+Connects is a program of the Stanford Alumni Association.
