Probablemente nunca hayas escuchado la increíble y desgarradora historia de Rita Patiño. Rita, una mujer tarahumara, dejó su comunidad en el norte de México a principios de la década de 1980 y cruzó la frontera caminando hasta llegar a Kansas. Cuando las autoridades estadounidenses la encontraron, la internaron a la fuerza en un hospital psiquiátrico durante 12 años. Durante todo este tiempo, las autoridades médicas desconocieron su identidad e incluso el idioma que habla. You’ve probably never heard the incredible and harrowing story of Rita Patiño. A Tarahumara woman, Rita left her community in northern Mexico in the early 1980s and walked across the border all the way to Kansas. When the American authorities found her, she was forcefully committed to a psychiatric hospital for 12 years. Throughout this time, her identity and even the language she speaks was unknown to the medical authorities. Now back in her hometown, the horrific episode still haunts her and her loved ones. This visually striking documentary opens a window into Rita’s inner world.
