The Baylor University Medical Center Dallas is a nationally recognized, faith-based hospital that cares for more than 300,000 people each year. In 1903, the hospital opened with 25 beds; today it is a major patient care, teaching and research center for the Southwest. Baylor Dallas has 914 licensed beds and serves as the flagship hospital of Baylor Scott & White Health. The Medical Center has more than 10 transplant cardiologists, coupled with cardiovascular surgeons, certified heart failure nurses, transplant coordinators, transplant pharmacist, dieticians, social workers, form a comprehensive program and offers medical management, medication optimization, evaluation for mechanical circulatory support devices, access to clinical trials and heart transplantation. Cardiac rehabilitation, patient education, lifestyle and nutrition counseling, palliative care, support groups for both patients and families are also provided by the center.
