The Bsissa, a product of the Tunisian soil, an art of eating, a therapy and a culinary heritage to discover!
The first recipe of the Bsissa would have, it seems, seen the day in the era of the Byzantine empire (some mosaics, integrating the bsissa, were found in Tunisia). Over the centuries, it has been adopted by all levels of the Tunisian population, and is now served at lunchtime, as a dessert or as a main meal, and is attracting more and more people throughout the world!
In the Bedouin tradition, Bsissa was recommended to travelers and pilgrims because it is highly nutritious and offers a high quantity/nutrition ratio! It is also used during Ramadan to facilitate fasting.
The traditional recipe of Bsissa has been passed down from generation to generation so that today we can enjoy its nutritional richness. It is usually eaten for breakfast with a few dates, making this combination a very energetic, delicious and sustaining dish.
