Jimi said in a 1967 interview that he first heard a wah-wah pedal when Cream played Tales of Brave Ulysses live at the BBC. He rushed to the same store (Manny's) in NY where Clapton got his wah and bought the same Vox pedal. Jimi , then unknown (1966), told his manager he would only go to London if he would introduce him to Eric Clapton. Hendrix was the only person Cream ever allowed to jam with them. It was probably the 1st time Jimi ever played thru a Marshall Stack. So Jimi went out and bought Marshalls. Cream also gave him the idea to make the Experience a power trio. Cream was the biggest live group in the world in 1968, outdrawing and more critically admired than the Experience. And Clapton was at least as acclaimed among great musicians and critics as Jimi. Eric & Jimi admired each other and both gave us great music. Glad I got to see Cream and the Experience live.
