My old Burks 1 hp well pump died so I looked for something equivalent. The local well driller said to get a Gould or Myer pump. Could of gotten a much cheaper pump, but I hope not to do this job again soon, and if it a pump failed in the winter it would make for some tough times. I settled on a Myers HJ100S Shallow Well Jet Pump 1 HP. After much work the new pump is running fine, quite a bit quieter than the old pump, even though I mounted the new pump on a small pallet I made of pressure treated wood to keep it off the floor.
