Mass tort cases are individual cases. Each plaintiff must prove liability and the damages in their case. In a mass tort case there are numerous plaintiffs, and usually when these cases get settled, they get settled on what's called a settlement grid. So many times you'll have a mass tort case and there might be three, four, or five type of signature injuries, or one signature injury. But they'll be categories of cases based on somebody's age, medical expenses, whether they're a worker, non-worker, or there was a death. Different factors are considered in awarding these cases, but they usually go on a settlement grid and the plaintiff will have an opportunity, if there's a master settlement, to receive their award and make a determination whether to accept it or not to accept it.
