Q: What is the difference between a Canadian citizenship certificate and a Canadian citizenship card?
A: The Canadian citizenship certificate has replaced the citizenship card. Citizenship and immigration Canada stopped issuing plastic wallet-sized citizenship ID cards as of February 1, 2012. Citizenship certificates are not travel documents, and they do not feature a photograph, but they are still valid proof of citizenship for voting or for obtaining a passport, a driver's license, or government services like health care. Your old citizenship card will remain valid.
