When Tommy Welchel accepted Christ in 1960 he had no idea of the destiny God had before him. 56 years had passed since the start of the Azusa Street Revival in 1906. Many of the saints had already passed away and even the youth who had been a part of this great revival were retirement aged. For half a century they had remained silent. Although many wanted to hear these powerful stories, God simply said "NO." They were to wait for the one that He would send. Tommy Welchel is that man. Under his Native American heritage he was known as a "keeper." Keepers lived by oral tradition and were responsible for meticulously documenting the family line.
As a Holy Ghost filled believer Tommy had a new family in God and a new heritage. The remaining Azusa saints knew immediately that he was the one. For years Tommy received from them their stories and their anointings. He is a keeper not only of the history of Azusa Street but also of its spiritual heritage.
As Tommy shares, many are healed just as they listen to the stories. Many more who are willing receive the impartation passed down from William Seymour and the Azusa saints. While they have all gone home their gifts and anointings remain for those who wish to use them for God's glory.
