Once you have a perfect blue cone-within-a-cone flame and hear a "gentle roar" you have achieved perfection :) The tip of the cone will be approximately 1800 degrees C and will melt a penny! Watch as Brito heats a penny and the zinc literally falls out of the center!
Remember: Lab safety is vital when lighting a burner.
And always, always wear your safety goggles!
