(29 Dec 1994) Bosnian Serb and United Nations military commanders on Thursday
(29/12) wound up talks on a proposed four-month ceasefire without
signing a truce document. However, they indicated they still hoped
to do so by the weekend. Earlier, Bosnian Serb leader Radovan
Karadzic said agreement was close and the Serbs might sign the
ceasefire with the Moslem-led Bosnian government during the course
of the day. U.N. commander in Bosnia, Lieutenant-General Sir
Michael Rose, told reporters before he left Pale, the Bosnian Serb
political headquarters just outside Sarajevo, "I hope we are going
to get some conclusion by the weekend. There are no main problems,
there are details we are discussing." The Bosnian Serb military
commander, General Ratko Mladic, added: "I agree with what General
Rose has just said, I hope the parties to the conflict will sort
the details out."
