🔥 Beat the cold with some Northern Vietnamese hot pot! 
 
Crab Hot Lau owner, Cherry Pham, first came to Canada 8 years ago. During her time here, she missed food from her home region: Hai Phong, Vietnam. She struggled to find a place that made it like she remembered.  
 
Without any restaurant experience, she opened Crab Hot Lau during the pandemic and set forth to bring the taste she loved so much here to the city. To do so, she imports 80% of her ingredients straight from Hai Phong WEEKLY. And she ensures the best quality by making everything by scratch daily.  
 
For us - this is the first time we’ve had Vietnamese hot pot. And we gotta say, we were well spoiled as our first. Here, they specialize in Rice Field Crab Hot Pot - a tiny crab that is transformed into a broth that really packed some deep flavours. The hot pot (feeds 2) is a set that comes with brown flat rice noodles, veggies, rice cakes. The Oxtail hot pot is more similar to your regular Pho-type of broth and ingredients.  
 
We also tried several appys like the grilled squid and square crab spring rolls. The latter was the most packed spring roll we’ve ever seen and it was definitely one of our fav items of the night. 
 
With the Vietnamese food scene being more and more competitive each year, the introduction of crab hot pot and focus on Northern Viet cuisine makes Crab Hot Lau a worthy spot to add to your to “Nom List”.
