LISTEN TO STEVE BLUM'S SHORT-AND-SWEET SPEECH ON THE MATTER.
[ Ссылка ]
For those of you who haven't heard, on October 21st, 2016 the actors of SAG-AFTRA officially went on strike against a slew of high-profile video game publishers and recording studios. For the last several years, negotiations have been attempted to try and rewrite the contract for interactive media in a way that is up-to-date with all other forms of entertainment while the gaming industry has massively (and quickly) evolved. However, after these negotiations reached a stalemate, a strike has been taken in order to halt recording on any and all projects by these publishers and studios until an agreement can be made.
Joining me on this special (and very important) Kirblog is Crispin Freeman, who is not only a prolific voice actor in video games for well over a decade, but is also a member of the negotiation committee at SAG-AFTRA to try and make changes to better the industry. For this discussion, Crispin and I lay out all the facts. The history of how this conflict started, how it continued, what specifically the actors are seeking to change for everyone's benefit, how you as consumers (and fans) can help and what up-and-comers should be doing at a time like this.
Using the hashtag #PerformanceMatters, tweet stories about your favorite voice actors and moments in video games where their performances really impacted you. Prove the publishers wrong and show them that good-quality acting are far more integral to Triple-A games than they think. We're not asking for a lot. Read up, get educated on the facts and lend us your support.
