In early April, our team "Devex Robotics" competed in Robot-SM 2019. Robot-SM is a competition that is arranged annually by Chalmers Robot Association since 2006 where teams build robots that compete in different challenges such as Mini Sumo, Line tracking and Folkrace.
Devex Robotics designed and built a Mini Sumo robot, "DevexDestroyerDroid" and we managed to get second place. This video shows the process of designing, building, and training the robot. And in the end, the matches with the competing robots.
The goal of Mini Sumo is for the robots to stay within the Dohyo ring as long as possible while trying to push the opponent out. To succeed, it is important that the robot is powerful, fast and has a good perception of the surroundings.
