This fan integrates Smart Power Technology, which enables it to run on 4 different power sources: an AC adapter (included), a 12V car charger adapter (included), 8 D cell batteries (not included), and the built-in NiMH rechargeable batteries. The fan automatically selects the lowest cost energy option available. It selects the AC or auto adapter first, the rechargeable batteries second, and the 8 D cell batteries third.
