Since several people have harassed me saying that this video was "risky," I'd like to take a moment to tell all concerned viewers that:
- You are not actually concerned about me
- I waited until there were no vehicles behind me for 2 full intersections before doing this. There is no chance of any interaction with a vehicle.
- The camera is on my handlebars, not on my head, so yes, I am looking around and fully aware of my surroundings
- The truck is not going to spontaneously fly into reverse
- I am purposefully rolling over various track configurations because this is a joke, not an instruction. Obviously you are not supposed to bike in the left lane if you don't have to. Obviously there is no practical reasons to switch back and forth between the lanes.
- I am not at risk of falling down because of hitting the tracks. I know what I'm doing. I am at far more risk when I drive to the grocery store, or cross a crosswalk.
- I am coasting at such a leisurely pace that even if I DID get caught in the tracks (which has not happened in many years) I could just... put my foot down. I could put my right leg on the ground, pause, and then continue rolling to the other side of the intersection, with no vehicles behind me. No risk of a scrape to my kneecap. Nothing.
Looking for people to yell at on the Internet so that you can get a dopamine hit for enforcing a rule or social norm (even when there is zero risk to anyone) is bad for your mental health.
