STORYLINE:
Russia continued to withdraw troops from its military bases in Georgia on Thursday.
Twenty three units of military specialists and eight tonnes of military equipment were sent to the Russian military base in Gumri, Armenia.
They were previously based in the Vaziani military base located 25 kilometres (15 miles) from the Georgian capital Tbilisi.
The withdrawal process is the part of agreement between Georgia and Russia signed at OSCE summit in Istanbul.
According to the agreement Russia is committed to close its military bases in Georgia until January 1, 2008.
Currently Russia still has two bases in Georgia, in Akhalkalaki and in Batumi.
Georgia views withdrawal of Russian troops from its soil as a significant step in its future development.
Relations between Russia and its tiny southern neighbour are at an all-time low after Moscow slapped a sweeping transport and postal blockade on the country in retaliation for the brief arrest of four Russian officers in Tbilisi accused of spying.
