President Clinton has spoken out strongly against Russia's military campaign in Chechnya.
Addressing a business conference in Cleveland, he said the violence and bloodshed must end.
The President told entrepreneurs that investment in central and eastern Europe made good business sense, because it fostered world security.
He then made his strongest plea yet for an end to the war between Russia and Chechen separatists
SOUNDBITE " As the tragic events in Chechnya remind us today. Chechnya is part of the Russian federation and we support the territorial integrity of Russia, just as we support the territorial integrity of all it's neighbours. but the violence must end. I call again on all the parties to stop spilling blood and start making peace."
