A unique case was noted today at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Within one hour, brothers and sisters, Uta Abe and Hifumi Abe, won gold medals in judo.
Uta Abe won in the weight category up to 52 kg. In the final, she was stronger than the Frenchwoman Amandine Bouchard. Bronze went to Briton Chelsea Gilles and Italian Odette Jufrida.
Hifumi Abe won the gold medal in the weight category up to 66 kg. In the final match, he defeated the Georgian Vazha Margvelashvili. The bronze winners were the Brazilian Daniel Kargnin and the judoka from South Korea Baul An.
Hifumi Aba is 23 years old, his sister Uta is 21 years old. Both brother and sister won the world championships twice, and once they became the strongest in the same tournament - in 2018 in Baku.
