COON RAPIDS, Minn. -- Mercy Hospital's new mother baby center officially opened its doors this week.
The $30 million facility features five triage rooms, two operating rooms and 13 labor and delivery rooms, along with a regular nursery and a special care nursery.
With the opening of the new facility, the birth centers at both Mercy and Unity are being combined into one all-inclusive program.
"The space is just huge and beautiful," says Judy Cannon of The Mother Baby Center. "People even come and just look down the hallways and you don't have this cramped feeling. The rooms, we've pretty much, the patient rooms have refrigerators and things, all the comforts, family areas, couches, so if dads want to stay overnight or significant others, they can have somewhere to sleep."
This is the third such facility in the Allina system.
