Trying to peel a hard-boiled egg can be an annoying way to start the day—but not for long. In this episode of Everyday Genius, host Kari Byron will show you an easy life hack to quickly shake the shells off your eggs.

HERE’S HOW YOU DO IT:
1. After draining your eggs and running them under cold water, add about a _ of an inch of water back into your empty pot
2. Place a tight lid on the pot
3. Shake the pot side-to-side for about 10 seconds. Be careful to not shake it up and down, or shake it too hard; both of those could cause the eggs to break open.
4. Remove the lid to see if you’ve shaken the shells off. If not, put the lid back and give it a few more shakes until they are removed.
