The 2020 Census is a population count of everyone living in the United States. It’s used to determine congressional representation and allocate nearly $700 billion in federal funding for vital community services like hospitals, roads, SNAP, Medicare/Medicaid and schools. Over the course of 10 years, our community loses about $20,000 for every person who isn’t counted. Completing your census ensures Virginia Beach receives its fair share. The U.S. Census Bureau will mail invitations to complete the 2020 Census in March and the completed form should be submitted by the end of April. It may be filled out online, by phone or by mail.
