In this video we traveled about 30 minutes from the Las Vegas strip to ride some of the best, green bike trails in Las Vegas. These beginner level MTB trails are located in what is called the Cottonwood Valley trail region. In this region there are about 14 easy bike trails that are excellent for beginner level riders. There are also at least another 12 or more moderate and expert level singe track trails for advanced riders.

COTTONWOOD VALLEY TRAIL REGION: Got two wheels and a sense of adventure? The adrenaline-packed Cottonwood Valley Trails are calling your name for an unforgettable rip off the Strip. Nestled in the foothills of the spectacular Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, limitless adventure awaits in this Blue Diamond-side valley, with access to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, and an exciting lineup of other trailheads systems nearby. Managed by the Nevada Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the trails here are recognized by the International Mountain Bicycling Association as a “Backyard to Backcountry” treasure, offering up world-class riding experience minutes from the Las Vegas metro area. The network of trails found here offers a chance to ride a big lineup of loops, with a range of trails suited for beginners, advanced riders, and everyone in between. Characterized by hard-packed soils, every trail within the Cottonwood Valley Trails System winds through stunning Joshua Tree forests carved by wild horses in the Mojave Desert. Discover small ledgy drops across various trail grades and varying elevation changes throughout the trails here. The Red Rock Canyon area offers several more options, especially for advanced riders who can look down on the town of Blue Diamond from above. If you’re after an easy pace with great views, jump on the paved Red Rock Canyon Scenic Tour that passes through ancient sandstone within the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

TRAILHEAD: We parked at the Late Night Trail head which is located on NV-160 in the Spring Mountains area (Red Rock Canyon/Blue Diamond). This trailhead is very popular by locals and tourists. This is a huge parking area with access to 2 dozen trails for both mountain biking, hiking and horse back riding. There are bathroom facilities and parking for large vehicles such as RVs.

*** As of 10/22 there were several vehicle break ins in this parking area. Do not leave any expensive items visible in your vehicle or you are an easy target. ***



TRAILS RIDDEN IN THIS VIDEO: Starting at the Late Night trailhead, we road SW on the Beginner Loop Trail to get to the Mustang Loop Trail. We then road clockwise on this trail until we got to the Inner Loop Trail. The Inner Loop Trail then connects back to the Beginner Loop Trail. In total the ride was 4.5 miles with about 350 FT of very gradual climbing.

FOR VIDEO NERDS: I tested shooting this video with my Insta 360 One R in Log mode (or flat color mode). Unfortunately, my drone does not have a flat color mode. Thus trying to color grade the videos from both cameras turned out to be a challenge. I find it easier to leave the Insta 360 One R in Vivid Color mode instead of Log mode because the color closely matches the drone footage with only some minor adjustments.

THE BIKE RIDEZ STORY & MISSION :
We are e-bike explorers! This channel is continuing to evolve. The current focus is the scenic beauty and peaceful landscape of the trails we ride, not the actual mountain bike riding or e-bikes we are ridding. Although we thoroughly love riding our eMTBs for exercise and adventure, bike riding is our primary form of meditation and stress relief. Our bike rides allow for a few hours without our phones where we can stay focused on being in the moment.
