Chakka Payasam / Chakka Pradhaman / Onam special Jackfruit payasam
Mouthwatering yummy chakka payasam / Jackfruit recipe
Ingredients:
Jackfruit - 1/2 kg
jaggery - 200gms
Thick coconut milk - 1 cup
Thin coconut milk - 3 cup
dry ginger powder (chukku podi) - 1/4tsp
cumin powder - 1/4tsp
cardamon powder - 1/4tsp
cashew nuts
raisins
coconut cut pieces
ghee
water
Method of preparation:
Clean the jackfruit and remove the seeds as shown in the video. Cut the jackfruit into small pieces, add 3/4 cup of water and cook in the pressure cooker for 3 whistles on low flame. After cooling, grind the cooked jackfruit and keep aside. Then melt the jaggeryby adding one cup of water. Now place uruli or kadai and pour two spoon of ghee and then add jackfruit paste, mix and stir well for about 10 minutes. Now add the strained melted jaggery and stir well . Then add dry ginger powder, cumin powder and cardamon powder to the thin coconut milk and mix well. Pour the thin coconut milk and stir for 5 minutes and cook on low flame. Now switch off the flame and add the thick coconut milk and roasted coconut cut pieces, cashew nuts, raisins and stir well. Close the lid and keep for 10 minutes. After cooling the payasam becomes thick and ready to serve. Enjoy the onam special yummy payasam !!
