Use the numbers on your computer keyboard to play the corresponding notes.
The tenor saxophone is a Bb instrument. So if you're used to concert notes (piano, etc), they will be shifted (transposed) by a whole step. C on tenor sax is a concert Bb for example.
1 = C
2 = D
3 = E
4 = F
5 = G
6 = A
7 = B
8 = C
9 = D
These notes are the C major scale with the major ninth. You can try playing melodies that fit within these notes and this range.
And thinking of notes in terms of numbers/intervals can be a useful thing to do.
